Research Update: NSF-funded research explores how dissolved organic carbon drives ocean health

NSF-funded research is exploring how dissolved inorganic carbon's transition to organic carbon drives ocean health and the Earth's climate system.

Organic carbons are critical support for oceanic food webs, however changes in the climate can impact the sensitive marine system. In this study, researchers estimated global ocean productivity using remote-sensing observations, modeled with data provided by research vessels.
